Step 7: Fill out information, CHECK NONRESIDENT ALIEN, Click continue.
Step 8: Fill out Relationship status (as of Dec 31st 2024). Many will fall under Single. Click Continue.
Step 9: Unless you are a child of a US taxpayer you leave dependent box empty. Click Continue.
Step 10: It should ask you to confirm 1040NR and that you need to use Deluxe.
Step 11: Click File Form 1040NR and Select your home country from drop down menu. Click Continue.
Step 12: Click Country of Citizenship, again select your home country. Click continue.
Step 13: Have you ever applied to be a green card holder, Answer, Click continue.
Step 14: Answer questions, Most of you will answer NO to both, Click Continue.
Step 15: Enter your Visa, For Au Pairs select J1 and leave other blank. Click Continue.
Step 16: Assuming you didn't change your visa, check No and click Continue.
Step 17: Enter every time you entered and exited the country in 2024. If only for a day use that same day for both. Do not click Canada and Mexico as that's for people living in those countries who commuted to work, you lived with your host family.
Step 18: Enter how many days you were in the country, including visiting.
Step 19: Did you file a previous return, Assuming No, Click Continue.
Step 20: Did you make more than 250K, assuming No, Click Continue.
Step 21: Elections, leave blank, Click Continue.
Step 22: Assuming you do not have a child, click "No, I didn't support anyone else". Click Continue.
Step 23: Enter your address currently. If the location is different than dec 31st 2024 then click box. Click Continue.
Step 24: Confirm information, Click Continue.
Step 25: This page should recommend your filing status, Click Continue.
Step 26: You may be served an ad, Click No Thanks
Step 27: Reviewing Source of Income (Page 1 of 4) , Check "None of the above". Click Continue.
Step 28: Reviewing Source of Income (Page 2 of 4) , Open up "Less common income", Check "Household employee wages (Not on W-2)" Click Continue.
Step 29: Reviewing Source of Income (Page 3 of 4) , Assuming you didn't have any other investment income, check None of above, Click continue.
Step 30: Reviewing Source of Income (Page 3 of 4) , If you made gifts to Charity in 2024 click box, if not Check None of the above. Education doesn't apply to you.
Step 31: Another Ad, Chose what you want, Click Agree or Not.
Step 32: Income is seperated, leave box blank, Click Continue.
Step 33: Form 1042-s, Don't select anything, click Continue.
Step 34: Less Common income, Click continue
Step 35: This is where you enter everything you earned from Jan 1 to Dec 31 2024. This is your weekly pay and includes bonus. If you advanced money (like bought ice cream cone for child) and was reinbured that does not count towards income.
Step 36: Did you make estimated taxes? Highly unlikely, most of you will click No.
Step 37: Look at Deductions, Click continue until you get to the page where you can enter Charity if applicable.
Step 38: Did you make any noncash Charity?
Step 39: Do you have any other itemized deductions, 99% of you will click No (If you paid State Taxes for 2023, then yes)
Step 40: Credits, Click Continue
Step 41: Did you buy health insurance, Click No
Step 42: Other Tax Withholding. Click No
Step 43: Let's Start with taxes, click Continue.
Step 44: Review Schedule Nec, Click No
Step 45: Review Other, Click Continue
Step 46: Form 8843 & 8840, Click No
Step 47: Estimated tax? Up to you, I recommend
Step 48: Underpayment Penalty, Click Yes,
Step 49: Farm or Fishing, Leave blank, Click Continue.
Step 50: Enter 2023 tax bill, or click box for 0 if this is your first year. Click Continue.
Step 51: Digital Currency, Did you? Answer appropriately, Click Continue.
Step 52: Pin from IRS. Most will say No, Click continue.
Step 53: Donate $3, most will say no, Click Continue.
Step 54: Review your taxes, This should be about 10% of what you earned in the year.
Step 55: Review on your own. Click Continue.
Step 56: You may get an ad, Click no thanks.
Step 57: Run the review
